Episode-38: DCP 2012 Top 10On March 7, 2012 Dean Nelson presented the refreshed Data Center Pulse top 10 at the closing session of the Green Grid Technical Forum in San Jose, CA. The latest Top 10 was reviewed at the DCP summit held on March 5, 2012 in conjunction with the Green Grid. Attendees from eBay, Microsoft, Yahoo!, @Tokyo, Salesforce, Verne Global, Equinix, and many others discussed, debated and provided final steering for the list. Significant changes were made this year with more than half being modified or new. The presentation also went through the progression of the Top 10 list since its inception in February, 2009 at the very first DCP Summit. The 2012 top 10 includes - Facilities & IT Alignment, Top Level Efficiency Metric, Standardized Stack Framework, Move from Availability to Resiliency, Renewable Power Options, "Containers" vs Brick & Mortar, Hybrid Data Center Designs, Liquid Cooled IT Equipment Options, Free Cooling "Everywhere", and Converged Infrastructure Intelligence.

Episode-37: 2012 Summit Topic 2 - SEMDean Nelson, Richard Donaldson and Jeremy Rodriguez discuss the lively session around the new Service Efficiency Metric at the Data Center Pulse 2012 Summit held in San Jose, CA in conjunction with the Green Grid Technical Forum. The proposal, that is currently being reviewed internally with DCP members, is a framework that shows the actual MPG or work done in a data center. A DCP member company provided 1 years worth of actual data to fuel this forum dialog.The "all-up" metric concept sparked intense discussion and debate in one of the most interactive sessions yet. Peers from Microsoft, eBay, Yahoo!, Equinix, @Tokyo Power, Salesforce, Oracle and many others joined in the discussion about feasibility, application and public opinion of the metric during this 2 and 1/2 hour session. The metric proposal is slated to be released publicly this summer

Episode-35: 2012 Summit SummaryOn March 5, 2012 Data Center Pulse held it's fourth annual summit in San Jose, CA in conjunction with the Green Grid Technical Forum. DCP and the Green Grid established a collaboration agreement in 2010 which connects the DCP user community through the Green Grid Advisory Council. The 2012 Summit had three primary topics. First - The Project Mercury Case Study released by the Green Grid on February 27, 2012. Second - The Service Efficiency Metric, a proposal on measuring the MPG or all-up efficiency of the data center infrastructure. Third - The DCP Top 10 for 2012.
